RJ Lift Services is a national lift engineering company
The business serves regional & national customers ranging from independent traders, to blue chip nationals to public sector clients accross a range of maint, installation, refurb, part sales and project services under contract
Trading in excess of 20 years the business is now run by the second-generation who have grown it 500%
Trading now sees the business in excess of £20m with £4m EBITDA and intends to grow to £50m in 5-years
The company trades from a single Head Office in Stoke but benefits from a dispersed workforce
A second line of opertional management exist and are assuming greater responsibility (150 fte)
Role
The company to date has had a finance team of 6 led by the Company Secretary and supported by 3 AR & 2 AP staff. Up until the present scale this model has been fit for purpose.
As the business plans for its next step change in scale, the management recognise the opportunity to bring in a more senior hire to help; reporting, forecasting, pricing opportunities, enhancing financial/job control and supporting the businesses financial stakeholders
A key theme of the role will be to support management in instigating and maintaining the appropriate financial reporting required to satisfy financial institutions operating leveraged finance facilities (board packs, outturn, forecast, variance bridges, business intelligence reporting, covenant monitoring and forecasting etc)
It is expected that with significant heads already in the team that the right candidate will continue the theme of a supportive family-run operation and develop/train existing staff further as appropriate
There is the possibility that in a fragmented market that accretive M&A is pursued in future
The business runs Xero as a GL and Qlik reporting for workflow management. There is limited integration between the two at present and enhancing this to better capitalise on data will be hugely valuable
Candidate
Experience as FD in a Board contributing role in excess of 5 years
Ideally familiar with industrial financial control including project accounting and contracted revenue recognition
Must have experience managing key financial stakeholders
Must have extensive experience having led implementation and transformation projects
Must have extensive experience training and developing staff
For the right candidate a portfolio role maybe considered but 2/3 days per week is the expected minimum
For the right emerging candidate, taking a first or second role as FD, they would be considered if the personal and role experience was an exceptionally good fit
