Business Systems Manager Job (IT Manager) Permanent Job Job based in Birmingham

Working exclusively with Hays Technology this SME supplier to the construction sector is expanding their IT following fresh investment and growth throughout the past 12-18 months. This business is well established and respected in their field supplying products to thousands of businesses across the UK from their Midlands based warehouse and distribution site. Following significant growth in their e-commerce and website they are moving their existing IT Manager internally into a web development lead role and recruiting a newly created Business Systems Manager vacancy to work alongside them and manage a small IT team.

Your new role
Reporting to the General Manager and Directors this role will see an experienced but hands-on IT professional join a small team and play and important role in growth and development of IT function. Sitting on a multi-discipline management team you will also be hands on involved in all aspects of internal IT infrastructure and be the face of the department. Key areas of focus will include manage the IT Budget, Project Management, mentoring the IT Helpdesk, managing 3rd party suppliers and providing user support training and advice. You will also undertake an evaluation of system functionality, schedule upgrades and stay up-to-date with latest technology whilst managing IT security systems and ensure integrity of systems/backups and test reliability. You will also be responsible for purchasing new hardware/software and supporting change programmes including current cloud based projects such as implementing O365 and Azure Cloud.

What you’ll need to succeed
We are looking for applicants with a broad base of previous experience who will be comfortable in a IT leadership/management position whilst also remaining hands-on technical. We are looking for recent and relevant IT qualifications, as well as experience with MS SQL Server, VMWare, LAN Networking and Cisco. We would like candidates to have ERP systems experience – the business currently use an AIX M4 Platform. You will be comfortable supporting on-prem infrastructure and security, network gateways into ERP and manage telephony systems. Part of your remit will be to drive cloud based projects so any experience in working within cloud architecture will also be helpful.
