Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – NeurosurgeryAs a world-recognised centre of clinical excellence and research, Cleveland Clinic is expanding its global footprint to London. We are opening a brand new, state of the art, hospital in January 2022 and are recruiting now for skilled and enthusiastic allied health professionals to form our exceptional therapy team. Through collaboration and learning, Cleveland Clinic London will combine the best of Cleveland Clinic, with the best of UK Healthcare, ensuring holistic patient care and best possible patient outcomes.As a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will work as an autonomous practitioner assessing, treating and managing patients with complex communication, dysphagia and tracheostomy weaning needs for patients with multiple aetiologies and comorbidities across the acute neurosurgical service. You will also demonstrate competence in instrumental assessment and AAC. This will require advanced clinical reasoning, together with integrated clinical management with the wider MDT. You will be working on the neurosurgical ward, providing additional support to ICU and our large neurological rehabilitation unit when required. You will work alongside Consultant neurosurgeons who are experts in their field, particularly neuro-oncology and awake craniotomy.This role will report directly to the Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist and be part of a highly innovative, evidence based, forward thinking ITU therapy team, as well as working within the wider therapy team providing speech and language therapy expertise. What we require from you:• Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree qualification or equivalent• Post-graduate experience in speech and language therapy within an acute hospital context at senior level• Experience in speech and language therapy in the following areas: Neurosurgery and Neurorehabilitation. ICU desirable.• Experiential post graduate learning and development of specialist skills such as Videofluoroscopy assessment and Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow• Post graduate learning of tracheostomy management desirable• Evidence of training / experience in appraisal, supervision of therapists/students• Evidence of continuous professional / academic development relevant to clinical field e.g. specialist short courses attendance at CEN’s • Evidence of training / experience in basic research skills (critical appraisal, literature reviews)We can offer you: • 25 days annual leave• Auto-Enrolment of 5% pension, and we’ll contribute 10% on top of that• Gym facilities located within our Admin Office Building at a discounted rate• Season ticket loans up to the value of £10k per year• Private Medical Insurance For further information or questions regarding the role please contact Natasha Canaway on
