Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded Assistant Branch Manager with specialist knowledge of roofing to support the leadership of a busy builders' merchant branch. Working closely with the Branch Manager, you will help drive sales growth, oversee daily operations and ensure customers receive excellent service. This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example, build strong trade relationships and support the success of both the branch and the roofing product category. Key Responsibilities Sales & Customer Service Proactively promote roofing products and services to new and existing customers. Provide expert advice and solutions to trade, commercial and retail clients. Support the development of new business opportunities and strengthen customer loyalty. Branch Operations Assist the Branch Manager in overseeing day-to-day branch activities. Monitor stock levels, manage supplier orders and maintain product displays. Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety and operational standards. Team Support & Leadership Act as deputy to the Branch Manager when required. Support, train and motivate team members to deliver sales and service targets. Contribute to a positive, safe and productive working environment. Financial & Commercial Performance Help achieve branch sales, margin and profit objectives. Track sales performance of the roofing category and suggest improvements. Support cost control, efficiency, and operational effectiveness. Skills & Experience Required Previous experience in builders' merchants and roofing products (essential). Strong product knowledge of roofing materials and their applications. Experience in a supervisory, team leader or assistant manager role. Commercially driven with strong sales and customer service skills. Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities. Confident communicator with the ability to build lasting relationships. We are currently working with a well-established builders merchant with a strong reputation in the industry, who are looking for an experienced Stock Controller to join their busy branch. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous experience in stock control or inventory management within the building materials or timber sector to take on a hands-on, responsible role in a supportive team environment. The Role Monitor, maintain, and record accurate stock levels using both digital and manual systems. Receive, check, and organise deliveries, ensuring goods are stored and documented correctly. Carry out regular stock checks and full inventory counts, investigating discrepancies. Work closely with sales, transport, and branch management teams to coordinate stock requirements. Support the preparation of stock for dispatch and ensure smooth order fulfilment. Keep the warehouse safe and organised, following health & safety procedures. Identify opportunities to improve stock flow and operational efficiency.
