Our premium brand Automotive client is currently recruiting for the following role: Vehicle Safety Test Engineer - 27.21/hr (Inside IR35) - Warwickshire - 9 Months (potential for yearly renewal) Duties: The candidate will join the Vehicle Safety Test Laboratories test team at Gaydon to conduct physical destructive testing on components, systems and vehicles to meet Passive Safety targets. Working closely with customers, the data is used to progress engineering development, or to be used for compliance evidence by witness authorities and others. With the ability to translate regulation and requirement test protocols, and using a variety of modern test equipment, instrumentation and data acquisition systems, the candidate will manage the test through to completion and produce a test report on time. Initially on "days", the role may require being on shifts later in the year (earlies and lates). Skills: Experience of physical testing in a laboratory. Working knowledge of passive safety regulations and requirements, Inc. FMVSS and ECE. Working knowledge of instrumentation and data acquisition systems. E.g. force, displacement, acceleration. Responsible for lab-based transfer function measurement to support NVH attribute needs and NVH issue investigation, i.e. Transfer Path Analysis to support road, powertrain and simulator teams - Undertake detailed correlation work in collaboration with CAE teams both internal and external to improve future models and simulations. - Maintain the Modal lab workspace and ensure it is fit for use, and calibration compliant - Support taskforce activities to solve complex engineering problems as required - Maintain up to date method statements and processes for modal and systems testing Skills: - Experience within a modal testing environment and setup and use of impact hammer testing and shaker equipment - Good understanding of NVH signal processing and analysis, especially modal, structural and transfer function analysis - A methodical and detailed approach to planning, recording and executing high quality testing, and reporting - Ability to effectively present and communicate complex NVH data - Capable of working closely and collaboratively within a small team, inc. some coaching of apprentice colleague - Ability to identify and propose continuous improvements and new methods of work - Practical capability to carry out the basic fitting tasks necessary to set up and instrument tests, including ability to design new fixtures/rigs which can then be fabricated by the workshop teams. You will co-ordinate the SVO and Core Attribute teams to set and ensure target compatibility with programme content across multiple SVO vehicle programmes. Taking responsibility for tracking completion of all Attribute activities from KO through to J1. You will support the creation of Attribute targets through PALS, Benchmarking and SOI then tracking delivery through Panel Chart management. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: - Support competitor and comparator Attribute benchmarking and futuring.
