My Belfast-based client is seeking an experienced and reliable Fire and Security Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to take ownership of their role and work on a variety of planned and reactive maintenance projects across fire and security systems. Job Purpose To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Reactive Maintenance, and emergency response works on a wide range of Fire & Security Systems in accordance with client contracts and safety regulations. Aims & Objectives Maintain engineering standards to maximise system performance and reliability Contribute to a high-performing team focused on exceptional client service Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations Deliver responsive and effective maintenance and support services Key Responsibilities Carry out PPM in line with contract schedules Complete reactive maintenance and respond to system faults Diagnose faults and carry out necessary repairs and upgrades Ensure all work adheres to relevant health and safety and quality assurance protocols Maintain accurate records/documentation for each site Liaise with subcontractors and coordinate their attendance on-site Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency call-outs as required Provide detailed reports and updates for completed work Support system upgrades and project-based installations where necessary Work alongside and support other trades and engineers on site Qualifications & Experience Essential: Proven experience working with fire alarm, intruder, access control, and CCTV systems Strong fault-finding and system commissioning skills Good understanding of current regulations (BS5839, BS EN54, etc.) Full UK driving licence Excellent communication and organisational skills Desirable: Industry-recognised certifications (e.g. FIA Units, IPAF, ECS, CSCS, manufacturer training) Experience working on major system brands (e.g. Gent, Advanced, C-Tec, Hikvision, Paxton, Galaxy, Texecom) What s in it for you? This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced fire and security professional to move into a technical support role, providing high-quality remote assistance to engineers and customers while working closely with customer service and scheduling teams. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical support and troubleshooting to both engineers and end users across fire and security systems. Use remote diagnostic tools and telephone support to resolve issues, reducing the need for field engineer callouts. Prioritise workload to ensure contractual deadlines are met. Handle customer calls with professionalism, meeting internal service standards. Support the Service Scheduling team when required. Deliver accurate, timely information to engineers and customers. Essential Requirements: Minimum 3 years' experience across multiple disciplines (Intruder, CCTV, Access Control, Fire). Strong customer focus and excellent telephone manner. Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively. General fire systems knowledge with Network/IP-based product experience. Desirable Skills: Knowledge of UDL software across Galaxy, ATS, Intruder Panels. Experience with Cash4Windows. Exposure to enterprise-level networked CCTV systems (e.g., Cathexis). This role is office based, you will be managing a team of engineers, who carry out service calls and fault rectification visits. Key points of the role: - Plans and schedules work with a minimum of 3 months in advance, based on working efficiently and productively to meet Preventive Maintenance (PM)schedule for customers in the allocated regional area. - Ensures response of emergency call outs and unscheduled work as they arise, allocation of work in the most efficient and cost-effective way while meeting customer's Service Level Agreement (SLA) - Plans and schedules the out of hours on-call rota to ensure we meet Service Level Agreements (SLA) for all customers. - Organises return calls - quotes, resources, parts, and logistics to ensure remedial work is completed within Service Level Agreement (SLA) timescales specific to customer. - Ensures each work order is closed and available to raise invoice to customer. - Creates new service plans on Logtek, once instructed by sales team and informs Field Service team. - Fosters a positive team spirit, motivating team members to deliver high standards of work and celebrates success. - Analyses productivity, scheduling, and financial reports through Logtek and Navision, with support of the Branch Manager to build action plans to constantly drive high service standards. - Reviews performance with Engineer team against Key Performance Indicators and objectives. - Identifies training and development needs of the team and ensuring the required training is planned and reviewed. - Addresses poor performance, disciplinary and grievance matters in line with Company policies and procedures. - Ensures team understand health and safety requirements and work in a safe manner at all times, ensuring they have the correct PPE, uniform and equipment required for the assigned work. - Provides excellent customer service when responding to customers. - Builds strong, professional relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal personnel form other departments. - Manages time and attendance through HoRizon system (HRIS) - Confirms overtime payments for team and sends authorisation to HR team for payroll processing within payroll deadlines. - Reviews and authorises Business expenses and sends to Accounts for payment (in line with Business Expenses matrix approval) - Liaises with QHSE Manager for quality audit purposes and the correct disposal of used parts/equipment.
