The Principal FPGA Design Engineer tasks include: • Working with a broad range of functionality from Ethernet, DDR, Aurora and DSP/Filters. • High speed DSP to extract targets of interest from complex background of radar returns, including functions to enhance the target detection and clutter rejection. • Development to bring up the FPGA/board and interfacing to peripherals. • Control of hardware to transmit and receive RF transmissions. • Decomposition of top level system or product requirements into an implementable FPGA architecture. • Employing strong design lifecycle from initial concept, through requirements and design reviews onto implementation and testing leading to in-service use and support. • Be the technical lead for exciting projects. • Work closely with other engineering disciplines (such as Embedded Software Engineers, R&D and Systems) to deliver successful product solutions. • Use high quality test strategies to giving coverage for design proving, development regression testing and system manufacture test. • Take part in design and code Peer Reviews. • Support team mates and give mentoring to junior members of the team. Required skills: VHDL, High-speed timing closure, problem solving. 10 or more years' experience working on FPGA designs Proven track record of producing designs on time and within budget. Desirable skills: Xilinx Vivado/ISE, tcl, Verilog. Experience with git, Bitbucket (or similar), CI, embedded software & Linux, bench test equipment experience.

The successful candidate will work both individually and within small teams to conceive and deliver innovative solutions to challenging problems.
