We are now looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Counsel based in the UK, working from a home office location, to support a number our Corporate groups with a focus on the Purchasing and IT Departments based in the US. This is a broad and varied position with a high level of autonomy and responsibility to provide sound legal advice within a global manufacturing business to provide contractual support to two of our most significant business support functions. The position would suit a Commercial Counsel with some in house experience looking to work in a global company. As Commercial Counsel you will: Drafting and negotiating high value, multi-year contracts for Procurement (EPC, JV's, strategic suppliers, utilities, raw materials, infrastructure agreements, transport and logistics) and IT (licenses, services agreements, data privacy agreements, infrastructure contracts and professional services agreements with strategic global counterparts) Ensure corporate governance and compliance through the delivery of training on anti-trust, FCPA and other relevant areas. Lead negotiations across range of commercial contracts with a particular focus on Purchasing and IT, drawing on the expertise of peers in the regional legal team as required. Draft and review a range of legal documents (e.g. variety of commercial contracts, general terms and conditions, quality requirements, training materials and compliance instructions) Provide training to associates on relevant legal topics and procedures such as competition law, dawn-raid procedures and use of contract management databases. Work as part of a large US legal team, attending weekly meetings and building remote relationships with key stakeholders, whilst also being part of our EMEA Corporate Legal group. Supervise litigations and other matters handled in coordination with outside counsel where necessary. Ensure and promote, together with Huntsman management, that all activities are in line with Environment, Health and Safety principles, International Trade Compliance and Huntsman's ethical standards. Support the legal department in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of working practices across the region. Requirements: Qualified lawyer with minimum 3 years PQE spent in an in-house commercial counsel role Strong knowledge in commercial law with any experience in PUR/IT contracts being highly desirable. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work autonomously and lead key negotiations as necessary.
