The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and implementation of firmware solutions for complex embedded systems, with a focus on high-performance applications within the defence sector. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop firmware using VHDL for FPGA-based systems. Work with Altera (Intel) FPGA platforms to deliver robust and reliable solutions. Implement and optimise DSP algorithms for real-time applications. Develop and integrate firmware for microprocessors in embedded systems. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to meet technical and project objectives. Contribute to documentation, verification, and validation processes in accordance with industry standards. Essential Skills & Experience: Strong experience with VHDL development and FPGA design. Hands-on expertise with Altera (Intel) FPGA devices and toolchains. Proven track record in DSP implementation. Experience in microprocessor programming and integration. Background in the defence sector or other safety/mission-critical industries (highly desirable). Ability to work under minimal supervision and deliver high-quality results within tight timelines. Due to the nature of the project candidates will be required to work onsite 4 days a week. Role is inside IR35 paying circa 80- 90 per hour. Key Responsibilities: Operate as the go-to controls engineer across multiple projects, liaising with stakeholders to design, implement and verify embedded software applications Collaborate with systems engineers to develop requirements, interface definitions, and other necessary documentation for optimal implementation Act as the embedded technical specialist within a small team developing a range of electrical power systems, primarily converters. Design and develop the system design, along with systems and electronic specialists. Develop DSP and / or microprocessor-based designs for controllers, protection devices and power conversion equipment. Implement prototypes and perform testing.
