Tradewind are working alongside a well-run secondary School in Welwyn Garden City to source an English Teacher (ECT or instructor) to join their team from October 2026 on a Full time or 0.6 basis on a permanent contract with the school directly. This role provides the chance to inspire, support and ultimately raise teaching standards across the department and offers funded routes into teaching training. With the new backing of a large academy trust the school are looking to interview and appoint teachers with a pragmatic and positive outlook and expedience of encouraging and developing their pupils. Key Responsibilities: Lead English lessons for pupils in years 7-11 (Key Stages 3 and potentially 4) Work withing a dedicated and supportive team of 4 teachers For ECT's / trainee's or instructors looking to obtain QTS you will benefit from a reduced workload and timetable along with mentor-ship. For experienced teachers - competitive pay scales from day 1, supportive HOD with scope for a permanent contract, CPD and much more Build and Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents Ensure the science department meets academic standards and targets Qualifications and Requirements: Engaging and professional personality with a Strong knowledge of the English curriculum able to support with lessons in Key stages 3 and / or 4 Experience of teaching English, Tuition or a recent degree within English or Creative Writing Able to demonstrate pupil management and a professional and upbeat attitude. The school are also looking for skills and the ability to inspire pupils from all backgrounds and ability levels Passion for teaching and the commitment to student success Experience within curriculum development and assessment writing is an advantage Willingness to be an active and positive member of the whole school community is advantageous We offer a competitive salary package and opportunities for professional development.
