AECOM is recruiting for an battery energy storage systems (BESS) focused Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer to join our UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) department. Our T&D team delivers HV design for electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltage levels. The focus of this role is renewables and energy storage, grid connections, and private networks at voltage levels normally between 11kV to 400kV. Typical projects include feasibility, optioneering, FEED, detailed design and design assurance on existing or new build renewable generation, including pumped storage hydro, PV and wind - typically with collocated Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Here's what you'll be working on: Large projects and frameworks with renewable energy generation developers, mostly in UK and Ireland but also with some global projects. Front End Engineering Design (FEED), design for planning, feasibility studies, detailed design etc. of energy storage systems including associated grid connections, control and metering. Working with internal AECOM clients delivering large renewable generation or private wire projects In addition to the engineering responsibilities, this role includes some support to bidding, project and quality management. Qualifications Here's what we're looking for: Previous experience with consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or electrical utility in the energy sector. Suitable experience as FEED designer, detailed design or owner's engineer role. A good understanding of both renewable generation and energy storage technology in general and, in particular, battery storage technology of all types and chemistries. Experience designing the HV grid connection, metering, control requirements etc. associated with battery storage installations, including BESS collocated with renewable energy generation. Knowledge of grid connection requirements for renewable generation and energy storage, including G99 etc. Good understanding of electrical plant items and control systems such as transformers, cables, circuit breakers, HV Protection & Control. Good team player with a client-focused mindset and customer facing skills. Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects. Ideally have a Degree in Electrical Engineering Ideally have Project management experience (incl. budget, time and quality). Ideally have experience of multi-discipline engineering projects Ideally have experience of design & site construction review.
