These are long-term freelance roles (12 months+) where you'll be central to managing subcontractor accounts, driving commercial processes, and ensuring best practice across cost and contract management. This is not a senior management or strategic role - the right people will be "doers" who are comfortable rolling up their sleeves and delivering the day-to-day QS duties at a high standard. Key Responsibilities Subcontract Management: Day-to-day commercial management of subcontractor accounts, from procurement to final accounts. Contract Administration: Work with NEC contracts (Options A & C preferred), ensuring accurate notices, payments, and change management. Valuations & Payments: Prepare and assess valuations, process payments, and maintain accurate cost records. Change & Compensation Events: Identify, prepare, and agree variations/compensation events with full substantiation. Reporting: Support the project commercial team with CVRs, forecasts, and cashflow reporting. Collaboration: Work closely with the project team and client to ensure smooth commercial delivery. Support: Provide assistance and guidance to QS colleagues where required. Requirements Experience Level: Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor (minimum 5+ years' experience). Contracts: Essential - strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract. Sector Background: Highways experience is desirable, but strong subcontract management experience in civil engineering/infrastructure is equally valued. Approach: Proactive, detail-oriented, and commercially astute - someone who delivers, not just oversees. Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or equivalent (professional membership desirable but not essential). For more information please click APPLY NOW or call Harvey Barlow on (phone number removed). We constantly recruit for roles very similar to this one at all levels UK Wide. We are always keen to chat with you discreetly about your employment situation. Even if you are happy in your current role for now, we always welcome calls from Highways, Infrastructure & Transportation professionals keen to make their introductions for future months or years.
