Join a team based in Redbridge as a Housing Solutions Officer and play a key role in preventing and relieving homelessness across the borough. THE ROLEAs a Housing Solutions Officer, you will deliver a customer-focused service by offering effective housing advice and options to prevent homelessness, in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. You will work with individuals and families to assess their needs, develop personalised housing plans and implement sustainable solutions to avoid or relieve homelessness.Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Assess homelessness applications and determine statutory duties under Part VII of the Housing Act
  • Develop, update, and monitor Personalised Housing Plans with customers
  • Provide comprehensive housing advice including private renting, supported housing, and social housing options
  • Negotiate with landlords and accommodation providers to prevent evictions and secure tenancies
  • Deliver early intervention to reduce reliance on temporary accommodation
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure timely reporting for government data submissions
  • Work closely with internal teams, external agencies, and voluntary organisations to achieve sustainable outcomes
THE CANDIDATEThe ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar Housing Solutions, Homelessness Prevention, or Housing Needs role within a local authority setting. You will have in-depth knowledge of relevant housing legislation and the ability to manage complex caseloads efficiently.Essential Experience:
  • Strong understanding of the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and related legislation
  • Experience providing effective housing advice and conducting homelessness assessments
  • Skilled in managing complex and challenging customer situations
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in using housing systems and maintaining accurate casework documentation
