Bandsaw Operator - Metal Cutting / Manufacturing Operative

Are you an experienced Bandsaw Operative with a background in manufacturing or metal cutting? Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading precision-engineering firm in their recruitment for a Bandsaw Operative. We are looking for reliable, skilled individuals who are committed to quality, accuracy and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate horizontal band saw machinery to cut materials to precise measurements
• Set up, monitor and adjust saws according to technical specifications
• Handle and process various metals and alloys in line with cutting instructions
• Conduct routine quality checks using measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, verniers)
• Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
• Maintain a clean, organised and efficient work area
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily production targets

Shift Pattern & Pay:

Weekly rotating shifts 36 hour week:

• Week 1: Monday Thursday, 6:00am 2:30pm Friday, 6:00am 10:00am
• Week 2: Monday Thursday, 9:30am 6:00pm Friday, 10:00am 2:00pm

Pay:

• Starting at £12.64 per hour, increasing to £13.18 per hour once probation passed
• Overtime available at time and a half weekday & Saturdays, double time Sunday and Bank Holidays

Requirements:

• Demonstrable experience operating bandsaw equipment, ideally within a metal or manufacturing environment
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and cutting lists
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards of quality
• Comfortable with manual handling and working with heavy materials
• A proactive approach to workplace safety and teamwork
• Dependable, punctual and conscientious
