Test & Development Engineer (6 Month FTC)

An established motorcycle manufacturer is seeking a Test & Development Engineer to join their team on a 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role focused on managing and overseeing all testing and development activities across new and existing platforms. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with a proactive, collaborative approach to ensure testing programmes are delivered to the highest standards.

The Test & Development Engineer will:

• Oversee testing and development projects, ensuring alignment with engineering intent.
• Define and support instrumentation requirements for vehicles, rigs, and powertrains.
• Manage and review test procedures, methodologies, and documentation.
• Liaise with internal engineering teams and external service providers to ensure quality data delivery.
• Supervise and guide technicians, providing technical leadership and support.
• Act as deputy to the Principal Testing & Development Engineer when required.

The Test & Development Engineer will have:

• Minimum 8 years' experience in automotive or engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of motorcycle principles, with whole-vehicle knowledge of powertrain, chassis, and electrical systems.
• Proven background in testing and development, with datalogging application and analysis experience.
• Hands-on engineering and mechanical expertise, including prototype and rig testing.
• Experience of Microsoft office programmes - PowerPoint, MS project, Excel - data logging & test reports generation.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
• Experience of managing outsourced test service suppliers.
