Job Description

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the design of protection, control, SCADA, and automation systems (11kV-400kV).

  • Producing drawings, logic files, relay settings, and calculations for both new build and upgrade (Greenfield & Brownfield) substations.

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams-Power Systems, Civil, and Primary engineers-to deliver integrated designs.

  • Guiding and mentoring junior engineers, reviewing their work, and providing technical leadership.

  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

  • Attending site and commissioning activities, resolving technical queries as they arise.



About you

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field (Master's advantageous).

  • Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IET/IEE.

  • 8-10 years' experience in protection & control design, substation automation, and SCADA.

  • Strong grasp of industry standards and regulations (CDM, ESQCR).

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Knowledge of NEC or other contract forms is a plus.

  • Safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH) and specialist training would be beneficial.
