Assembly Operator
Location: Sunbury-on-Thames
Contract: Permanent Full-Time 07 00hrs Mon Thurs & 07 00hrs Fri.
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

A leading manufacturer of electro-mechanical systems is seeking an experienced and detail-focused Assembly Operator to join its high-performing operations team. Based in Sunbury-on-Thames, this is a hands-on role suited to individuals who take pride in precision work and want to play a key role in assembling and repairing technical equipment for critical applications.
As an Assembly Operator, you ll carry out strip-downs, inspections, fault-finding, and rebuilds on a wide range of mechanical and electrical products. You ll be expected to work to exacting standards, using engineering drawings, SOPs, and calibrated tools.

Key Responsibilities of the Assembly Operator:

  • Strip and clean incoming repair units to a survey-ready stage
  • Conduct fault-finding and identify component-level failures
  • Produce detailed survey reports with documentation of findings and required parts
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly to engineering drawings and CMMs
  • Use tools including torque drivers, micrometers, crimpers, and soldering irons
  • Support upgrades, overhauls, and rework of precision assemblies
  • Maintain clear documentation and adhere to company manufacturing procedures
  • Engage in continuous improvement and 6S activities
  • Support cross-training and team collaboration to meet department goals


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in electro-mechanical assembly or repair
  • Able to read and follow engineering drawings, SOPs, and work instructions
  • Skilled with small tools and able to handle delicate components
  • Strong attention to detail and methodical working style
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Basic IT skills and ability to complete production documentation
  • Professional, self-motivated, and calm under pressure
  • Some heavy lifting and ability to work to PUWER regulations
