About us:

Join the Airbus Facilities Management team, where we play a vital role in supporting our operations and ensuring a safe and reliable working environment. We are seeking a Facilities Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team, primarily supporting our sites in Filton and Newport.

Support in operation and maintenance of facilities & infrastructure to the building services to ensure safe and reliable working environment and business continuity.

This role is integral to the smooth operation of our facilities. You will collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure the effective maintenance of our infrastructure and technical equipment. A key part of your mission will be to manage our maintenance suppliers, measuring their performance to ensure delivery on time, quality and cost .

As a valued member of our team, you will support and advise our in-house team on technical problems related to the maintenance of facilities and mechanical engineering services across our sites.

What you will be doing:

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Support the management of subcontractors who perform installation, commissioning, and maintenance across our facilities and real estate.
  • Support projects from initial request to handover, including feasibility studies, detailed design, and tendering, and ensuring health and safety compliance.
  • Contribute to tender documentation by providing specification requirements in line with relevant installation standards.
  • Identify and address any non-compliance with policies, practices or procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of Opex and Capex budgets by collating data, information, and costs to support capital investment cases.
  • Define and agree on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as maintenance downtime or breakdown response, for reporting to customer representatives.
  • Identify and support the implementation of energy / carbon emission and continuous improvement projects to support the Airbus Sustainability objectives.


Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only . Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

  • Studying towards a degree in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or equivalent;

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
