Academics are looking to appoint a passionate and resilient Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to join a dedicated secondary setting in Matlock. This exciting position is perfect for someone who thrives on making a difference and supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, social, and learning needs.

The Role

As a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant, you will:

• Provide tailored support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Work 1:1, with small groups, and within classrooms to deliver targeted interventions.
• Assist teachers with planning, preparation of resources, and behaviour management.
• Support both on-site and, when required, during safe and well visits or home learning.
• Contribute to safeguarding and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for all learners.

Pay Rates

• 111 per day
• 555 per week (based on 5 days)
• 21,645 per year (term-time only)

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant who can demonstrate:

• Experience working with young people who have additional or behavioural needs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting learners.
• A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance (for occasional visits).
• GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Desirable qualifications include Team Teach or behaviour management training, First Aid certification, and prior work in alternative education.

Additional Information
