Salary: Circa £54,000 per annum

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Job Purpose:

As the OFSTED Registered Manager for our Children's Home, you will be responsible for the management and operational delivery of the home, ensuring compliance with OFSTED standards. This role includes line management of other Children's Home leaders and staff, leading the home through OFSTED inspections, and providing person-centred support to young people with EBD and complex needs to promote their independence and personal fulfilment. You will also participate in the first level 24hr on-call rota for residential services.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Management of Service Delivery:

    • Ensure the Children's Home meets required inspection standards under OFSTED and complies with the Children's Homes Regulations (2015).
    • Achieve positive outcomes through the delivery of high-quality support.
    • Coordinate operational needs of the home, ensuring a safe, homely environment.
    • Monitor health needs of children and young people to ensure the best outcomes.
  • Management of Support:

    • Support children and young people to achieve educational outcomes.
    • Facilitate participation in a range of activities.
    • Ensure privacy, dignity, and respect are integral to the support offered.
  • Management of Staff:

    • Provide line management and lead a team providing personalized support.
    • Ensure all staff attend mandatory courses and relevant training.
    • Involved in the recruitment and interviewing of new staff.
  • Management of Finance and Resources:

    • Manage finances within the budget and contribute towards service improvement plans.
    • Ensure stringent safeguarding procedures regarding children's possessions and money.
  • Professional Development:

    • Undertake all required training and develop good working relationships with staff and young people.
    • Participate in annual Performance Management reviews.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications:

    • NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
    • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Health and Social Care.
    • Willing to register as a manager with OFSTED.
    • Proficient numeracy/literacy skills at Level 3 or above in English and Math.
  • Knowledge and Experience:

    • Extensive knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework.
    • Experience at a senior level with children/adults with EBD.
    • Understanding of relevant legislation and policies including the Children and Families Act 2014 and Health and Social Care.
  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
    • Proficient use of ICT.
  • Qualities:

    • Physically able to undertake manual handling of young people.
    • Positive attitude towards diversity and inclusion.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Special Conditions:

    • Full UK driving license (Desirable).
    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and participate in on-call rota.
