Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant required for a Vehicle Dealership, in Stockton:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join a newly acquired Automotive Dealership. This is a fantastic chance to be part of a fresh chapter in the business, supporting the finance function as the dealership integrates into a larger Automotive group.

As an Assistant Accountant, you will support the Retailer Accountant in all aspects of dealership accounting, including the preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and analysis of key financial performance indicators. You ll ensure accuracy and compliance in all financial processes while providing vital support to operational managers, helping them to understand and manage their financial performance.

The Successful Assistant Account in this role will:

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts to tight reporting deadlines.
• Jointly manage a small accounts team and Sales Administrators.
• Reconcile month-end control accounts and vehicle funding lines.
• Perform vehicle stock checks and reconciliation.
• Prepare monthly payroll.
• Provide departmental managers with financial analysis as required.
• Undertake ad hoc duties such as debt chasing and compliance and risk analysis.
• Promote positive working relationships within the team and wider business, leading by example, and fostering inclusivity.

The Ideal Assistant Accountant will have:

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role is essential.
• ACA, CIMA, or ACCA qualified or working towards qualification is desirable.
• Experience in the automotive industry in an accounting role is advantageous.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of Keyloop Autoline is a plus.
• Accuracy and ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Strong team player, demonstrating integrity, positivity, and respect.
• Confidentiality and discretion are essential.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
