Job Description

On behalf of a group of friendly, forward-thinking practices in Plymouth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join their well-established primary care team.

The practices are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred healthcare to their local communities and are now seeking a motivated and skilled ANP to strengthen their clinical offering. The successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner who can assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of patient presentations. They will be confident in independent prescribing and skilled at delivering same-day care, as well as managing chronic conditions, undertaking clinical examinations, and promoting health and wellbeing. Working closely with GPs, practice nurses, and allied health professionals, the ANP will play a key role in ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake patient assessments, examinations, and diagnostic decision-making

  • Prescribe and review medications in accordance with local and national guidelines

  • Provide care for patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions

  • Manage both acute presentations and long-term conditions

  • Contribute to the delivery of enhanced services and clinical pathways

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the practices and wider network

  • Support health promotion, prevention, and patient education initiatives

  • Actively engage in clinical governance, audit, and service development

Essential Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with an MSc or equivalent in Advanced Clinical Practice

  • Independent prescribing qualification (V300)

  • Demonstrable experience in primary care, urgent care, or a similar setting

  • Excellent clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
