Role Synopsis
This role is in support of bp's expanding hydrogen project portfolio.

The intent for this role is to manage regulatory, environmental and social requirements for hydrogen project(s) in the early stages of concept development and optimize. As an E&S discipline advisor, you will support the project teams in identifying and managing the risks arising from a regulatory, environmental and social perspective.

This role will be key in delivering bp's sustainability framework which focuses on achieving net zero, caring for our planet and caring for our people.

Part of an agile and flow-to-work HSE team, you may also provide E&S support to other projects in concept development or optimize, spanning traditional oil and gas projects to wind, biofuel or carbon capture projects.

Key AccountabilitiesIdentify potential environmental and social impacts from projects concepts

Support the project teams to employ good HSE practices in avoiding or mitigating adverse impacts to the community and the environment (Carbon, People and Planet aims)

Support the project team in implementing bp's sustainability aims

Support engineering with the identification and evaluation of low carbon options for the project

Serve as support to squad teams, providing environmental technical expertise and support.

Provide HSE input into HAZIDS, risk register and project management documents as needed

Provide environmental and social support as required by major project processes, GDP 3.6, HSE&C guidelines and local regulations.

Provide environmental and social input to the development of HSE&C Plans, E&S Screenings, environmental robust designs, PHSSERs and ENVIIDs, following the requirements of Major projects processes.

Carry out applicability review for Net Positive Impact (NPI) and if applicable develop a plan to implement NPI.

Identify regulatory applicability

Develop permitting and consenting plans and submit applications as well as integrate into overall project schedule.

Support the development and implementation of the plan for regulatory stakeholder and public engagement / consultation in collaboration with regional E&S and C&A teams.

Ensure new squads incorporate good practices from previous BP projects and embed bp's sustainability framework into decision making

Support functional reviews with central projects team.

Support environmental and social contracts necessary to meet permitting requirements.

Manage the project HSE conformance register

Essential Experience & Job RequirementsDegree in an environmental or related discipline. Masters degree preferable.

Working towards a Professional chartered level qualification or equivalent required e.g. IEMA Full Membership Status (or equivalent).

Relevant experience in operations or projects HSE roles demonstrating strong knowledge of regulatory systems, standards and policy in highly regulated, high hazard industries.

Technical knowledge and experience in environmental and social identification, with detailed knowledge of environmental and social practices and procedures and delivery of environmental and social programs.

Experience and knowledge of regulatory, consenting regimes and stakeholder management.
