Here at HM Land Registry, we have an exciting opportunity availablefor a Senior Infrastructure Engineer. You will join us on flexible working, full-time, job share or part time basis and in return,you will receive a competitive salary of £43,161 - £45,470 per annum. Salary includes (non-pensionable) IT allowance of £4,609.

You will join our award-winning Digital, Data and Technology Directorate which is the in-house IT division at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide our customers with cutting-edge digital services.

You will be part of the IT Operations Practice, which is responsible for the performance and delivery of all technical infrastructure which underpins and supports the organisation. It consists of a number of technical teams which provide support, monitor and operate technical solutions.

HM Land Registry's existing software systems and services form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £7 trillion. This enables over £1 trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured against property across England and Wales.

Key responsibilities for the Senior Infrastructure Engineer:

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer and as part of the Lead Infrastructure Team, you will help to provide technical leadership for the IT Operations practice and provide technical guidance to these teams. You will develop and maintain IT infrastructure to ensure the availability, integrity and performance of services and will work with key IT partners and suppliers to develop, test and implement new solutions, ensuring that the most effective technology is used to meet business requirements. You will also manage roadmaps in line with maintenance or the platform and delivery of functionality alongside organisation requirements.

Part of the role will involve engaging with other Technical Leads, Delivery Leads, Service Managers and Architects to deliver solutions to agreed designs, contributing to the business as usual activities and work packages and you will provide clear communication of how own teams work impacts other technical areas, end users and stakeholders.

As a technical and behavioural role model, you will take forward technical consolidation and/or improvement activities, whilst providing guidance and leadership to technicians within your area and wider to support and deliver solutions in line with the Technology and Business Strategies and continual improvement of the practice and the IT Operations community.

What we're looking for in our Senior Infrastructure Engineer:

To meet the requirements for this role, you have advanced knowledge and experience of network principles (routing/switching/firewalls) and in depth knowledge, proven expertise and practical experience in at least one of the following:

  • Cloud networking management (AWS/Azure)
  • Onpremise physical routing, switching, firewall technologies

You can take a technical lead on significant project planning and implementation and problem resolution, including liaison with other technicians. You can also demonstrate strong leadership through coaching or mentoring and have the ability to define and manage technical risk and lead implementing appropriate mitigations.

Effective communication skills, including the ability to interact and build working relationships with stakeholders is essential.

Our ideal candidate will also hold a qualification in Information Technology or a related area (Degree Level or equivalent) and/or experience in an IT field.
