Job Description

Working with the PVC/Head of College, the Dean of Academic Strategy provides leadership of the delivery and development of the Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon academic strategy in relation to the University of the Arts London UAL strategy (2) and the complementary College vision.

The Dean of Academic Strategy is responsible for academic aspects of the College Annual Operating Plan, including the deployment of resources to ensure a dynamic, high-quality and inclusive academic provision that enhances and improves the student experience. This will include strategic input into student number planning, development and delivery of strategies for learning and teaching, retention and achievement and leading on an effective framework for quality assurance and enhancement. You will also have oversight of staff development activities and of the College s academic governance structures.

The role will be working across the 3 Colleges and a dedicated Foundation Centre: Camberwell College of Arts, a renowned art and design college driving positive social impact through art and design; Chelsea College of Arts, one of London s most prestigious art and design colleges; Wimbledon College of Arts, which has an international reputation for producing performance graduates; and the Foundation Centre in Camberwell where the 3 colleges run a joint Foundation Diploma in Art & Design.

Your profile

You will have extensive experience of national and global art and design education, and the internal and external policies that shape it. You will also have experience of developing new curricula and other academic initiatives, and of shaping and influencing developments within organisations.

The successful candidate will be recognised as a leading authority in their subject or profession with widespread public or professional recognition within their institution and amongst external peers based on demonstrated expertise. You will have a substantial record of teaching, research and/or professional practice in one or more of the College's specialist areas, along with a demonstrable knowledge of academic provision, trends and issues in Universities. Your application will also need to demonstrate experience of formulating strategic directions and influencing developments.
