Platform Resourcing are currently working with a global engineering business who are looking to expand their team by taking on a Senior Bridge Design Engineer in Gloucestershire. This client works with several global based construction and civils companies, providing engineering support and consultancy on structural design. The successful candidate will have qualifications in either Civil or Structural Engineering, also having experience within design, including NPD and project management from concept through to installation. The role will entail creation of designs for steel structures, utilising your construction knowledge of engineering practices and materials to complete precise calculations, prepare BOM's from drawings you have created, and attend meetings with the Project Delivery team as well as clients to provide advice, make amendments where needed before finalising designs. You will manage and support engineering teams with NPD projects, delivering tasks on time and within budget, also being involved with continuous improvement projects, working closely with the Head of Engineering. Senior Bridge Design Engineer Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and complete structural designs including precise calculations for steel structures and components, considering engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete calculations. Accountable for accurate provision of engineering designs and giving advice to clients, making amendments and suggesting alternatives when required. Delivering of engineering tasks and NPD projects to time and budget. Completing calculations with international clients, this may be developed in Metric, US Customary, or a combination of both. Provide technical / engineering input into proposals and projects, including estimates of engineering hours when required. Preparing of BOM's (bills of material) from drawings created. Review products for completeness and accuracy, ensuring work meets legal requirements and legislation before producing final design. Attend project and client technical meetings, providing consultative support as required. Prepare customer approval calculations, engineering specific written instructions and drafting procedures. Ensure that all business is carried out ethically and complies with the company's Business Ethics and Conduct Policy. Travel to other Site Locations or Customer Sites as necessary. Senior Bridge Design Engineer Experience and Education Essential: Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering. Associate Member of the ICE or IStructE, or actively working toward Chartered status. Ability to use and demonstrate at least one of the following: Inventor/ Mathcad/ AutoCAD/ LUSAS/ Ansys/ Superstress/ Mechanical CAD. Ability to write, analyse and interpret technical data inclusive of drawings, calculations, and specifications. Practical knowledge and design application of structural steel engineering formulas in relation to the relevant codes. Understanding of standard drafting terminology, abbreviations, symbols, dimensioning techniques, and procedures. The ability to prioritise workload and commit to business deadlines. Knowledge of British and European Codes Steel Construction Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) The ideal candidate must be a good communicator both written and verbal. A team player, with a calm and approachable nature. Senior Bridge Design Engineer Desirable: Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer. Ability to use latest versions of Inventor.
