Project Planners play a key role in delivering advice and guidance to the project/programme leadership and their teams on how to best deliver the required outputs, products and activities within the scope of the plan within the Home Office Transformation Portfolio.


The Role of a Project Planner

Your role as Project Planner will be to work with stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the project are defined. You will provide clarity on key milestones to define what, when and how activities will be organised to ensure the outcomes of a project can be achieved, with the resources available.


Essential Criteria and competencies:

· Strong Project planner with experience of working with or within a Project Office, PMO or Portfolio Office.

· Develop the programme plan and supporting plans on a page

· Ensure the planning approach is coherent, communicated and understood.

· Undertake analysis and reporting on dependency management and the critical path

· Build and track the critical path, ensuring the programme plan is end-to-end and drawing attention to the activities which will impact delivery and the landing of change.

· Take account of external factors in planning and plans

· Provide planning advice to ensure successful delivery of projects and sequencing of change

· Assure the quality of plans, highlighting and actively addressing shortfalls in content and quality.

Collaborate as a member of the Programme Office team, role-modelling behaviours and building team capability


Typical Qualifications and Professional Memberships include:

· PRINCE2 Practitioner

· Agile Project Management Practitioner

· APM Project Management Qualification

· APM Practitioner Qualification

· APM Registered Project Professional
