WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Charging Components Engineer, you will join a very capable and skilled team in charge of the development and design of all the electrical components used on Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. Our team is responsible to deliver the best components to our EDS harness teams, as well as guaranteeing the quality of the information within the company, including service and repair. You will be in charge of charging inlets fitting our PHEV and BEV vehicles, contributing to the resolution of any issue with current inlets and improving our standards to make future inlets more robust. Your contribution will be key to deliver best-in-class charging components to be installed on future Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.

You will deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System and will own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables.

The Charging Component Engineer will manage Change Request, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones as well as manage vehicle test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support Engineering test teams with rectification of issues.

You will be responsible for resolving issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs that meet targets and will need to ensure all appropriate JLR standards are met through-out design maturation and that all related standards and requirements are updated and cascaded to relevant stakeholders.

You will provide input into new feature development and ensure all programme design solutions meet:

  • Programme targets for cost and weight

  • Legal regulations and Requirements Management & Design Verification documentation

  • Optical Quality and Premium Consumer Product Audit requirements

You will also keep all Module documentation up to date including:

  • Meeting minutes

  • Foundation and Programme Design analysis documents

  • Quality history and bill of design

The Charging Component Engineer will need to interact and work closely with the whole of Electrical Engineering departments such as EDS Delivery Teams, EDS In-House Engineering Teams, Electrical component owners (infotainment, ADAS ) and with many other business functions, such as Design, Body, Powertrain, Chassis, Marketing and Sales, Manufacturing, Special Vehicles and Suppliers.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

As a Charging Component Engineer, you will be an individual who is results driven with the ability to deliver operational plans in a highly demanding environment. You will be able to prioritise your workload and will be a good communicator with the ability to communicate complex ideas.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience related to the charging inlet components or HV components
  • Experience of developing technical requirements specifications and associated test plans
  • Experience of planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of requirements to support the Cycle Plan programmes using Product Creation Delivery System (PCDS) principles
  • Experience of delivering technical products through a team, utilising strong people management skills
  • Experience of delivering projects in an automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and communicate at all levels
  • Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
  • Must be computer literate, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and easily adapt to company specific systems (previous knowledge in WERS, AIMS, RMDV, ECR's would be a benefit but not essential as training can be provided).
  • Strategic thinker willing to develop their role for the progression of the commodity.
  • Self-starter on problem solving methodology (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa).
  • Self-starter on component design (functional analysis, DFMEA, critical characteristic identification/cascade).

Desirable:

  • Proven technical knowledge related to charging system (requirements, stakeholders)
  • Previous work within a multidiscipline Engineering team. Experience of technical problem resolution. A knowledge of System validation processes.
  • Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
  • Experience with the following tools: TeamCenter, DT Database, ECR Database, Digital Buck, EDS-Designer, Component Database (Vesys, Capital Library), Capital Toolset, Reliasoft, RMDV/Doors.
